CAMPUS CLOSURES - THURSDAY, 11/10
According to local Emergency Management, the National Weather Service projects Tropical Storm Nicole will move through the state of Florida tomorrow, Thursday, November 10th. While projections have the strongest elements of this storm occurring north of our area, sustained winds approaching 40 mph and strong bands of rain are predicted to pass through Manatee County during the day tomorrow. Rowlett Academies cannot run our bus fleet if sustained winds reach 35 mph.
Therefore, out of precaution for the safety of students and employees, Rowlett Academies will close on Thursday, November 10th. We will also be closed on Friday, November 11th, in honor of Veterans Day, as previously scheduled.
Regrettably, this will also mean that our Elementary Campus Veterans Celebration has been canceled. We are evaluating our best options and will announce details regarding alternative performances in a future message.
Due to the accumulation of instructional time built into our district’s academic calendar, including an extra 30-minutes of instruction funded through additional millage approved by county voters, the cancellation of school on Thursday will not need to be replaced with a make-up day.
We hope that everyone stays safe and we anticipate resuming school on Monday, November 14th.
