Guidance Counselor Update

4/01/2020

To my dear RMA families and RMA students;

As you know, we are experiencing a new phenomenon around the country and the world. I like to think of it as a historical time in a lifetime that I will get to tell my grandchildren about. We have to make many changes at a fast rate and changes like these can be difficult. Some of us can be experiencing many new emotions, frustrations, and feelings that we are not accustomed to. The good side to all of this is that you are not alone, and we are all here to help you get through these times. For thousands of years the human species has survived and prevailed in this world. This is due to the remarkable capacity humans have for adapting and evolving to our environment. History has shown us, that we will get through this as we have done in the past centuries.

The purpose of this communication is to provide ways and means of communication with me.

• STOP IT app.

 I want to remind all students of our STOP IT app. It is my plan to include mental health services through this platform. This app, usually used by students to report bullying, can now be modified for mental health and counseling services; we can use it to communicate and seek counseling and support virtually.
Student, if you are feeling overwhelmed, in need to communicate with me about your feelings, please use this platform as one option for seeking help.

• Google phone number:

In addition to the app, I want to make myself available via phone for any questions you may have during these challenging times. Please note my Google voice phone number (941-882-0779) during my work hours of 8:00 AM-3:00 PM

• E-mail
Many of you have questions about your student’s registration forms/schedules and classes for next year; student grades and middle school requirements or you may have questions about High School registration etc. I want to be available for you and answer all of your questions, but I also want to be honest with you. They are still many things that are being worked out and I may not have all the answers for you on hand, but I will work tirelessly to find these answers for you and get back to you as soon as I can.

Contact me via email ([email protected]).
RMA families, we are all in this together and this shall pass.

Thanks you very much for your time.
